OPUNAKE RAILWAY.
TARANAKI COUNTY COUNCIL, The Taranaki County Council is anxious .that with the change of Government the report of the Opunake Bajlway Commission shall not he overlooked. At its meeting yesterday it passed the following resolution, on the motion of Cr. I). 'McCallum; "That this Council desires to bring under the notice of the Government the urgent necessity of giving effect to the. recommendations of the Railway Commission by (1) the enactment thk session of Parliament of a Railway Authorisation Bill for the construction of a line from Moturoa to Te Roti; (2) by at once issuing instructions to the proper authorities to proceed with the surveys of the route, and the starting of all necessary preliminary wol'k. so that there shall 'lie no delay in commencing the construction at the Moturoa and Te Roti emlri of the line. A further resolution was adopted oil, Mr. McCullitm's initiative: "That copies of the resolution be forwarded to the Government; the Kgmont, AVaimate West, ll'awera, Kltliam and Stratford County Councils: all borough councils, lown boards, harimr boards, road boards and chambers of commerce within the boundaries of these counties, requesting their active and instant co-operation; also to the members of Parliament of the provincial district, and jlie Hons f. Kelly and t). iSajimel, respectfully urging them to use their be 4 endeavors to bring this very important matter to a successful issue."
