ENG LISIIWOMAN ARRESTED. Received 5, 12.45 a.m. Lisbon, August 4. At the instance of the military authorities the residence of Miss Oram 1 , a correspondent of tho Daily Mail, was searched in her alwence. Hearing of the visit, she returned, accompanied by the secretary of the British Legation and made a protest against th'e search. She was then arrested and placed in a cell in the women's prison. The British Minister interviewed the Government on the incident.

A TYPHOID OUTBREAK. Received 5, 12.45 a.m. Ottawa, August 4. There are 771 cases of typhoid fever in Ottawa, and forty new cases were reported- to-day.
