Payment of thirty million dollars in pensions to veterans of the Mexican and Civil Wars, has been withheld, owing to a deadlock in Congress over the Pension Appropriation Bill. THE TARIFF COMMISSION. Received 4. 5.5 p.m. Washington. August 3. Complete agreement has been reached by the Tariff Commission on the Steel, Iron and Wool Tariff Bills. The duty on wool is fixed at 25 per cent. RELIEVING THE DESTITUTE. Received 4. 5.5 p.m. Washington, Augitst 4. The Senate has authorised a sum of 100,000 dollars for the relief of destitute American refugees at El Paso, and will transport them to their homes.
