MAD SURGEON
FORTY OPERATION'S A MONTH. A telegram from 'Marietta, Ohio, state* that Dr. W. K. Dabney ha 9 been declared insane and placed in confinement, following the death of a patient after an operation. Dr. Dabney. who is the most noted surgeon in Southern Ohio, has a large practice, and has been especially proficient in women's troubles and appendicitis. The death of his most recent patient excited suspicion in the minds of her relatives that all was not rigjbt, and communications were made to the authorities. The surgeon who examined the dead woman confirmed these -views, and the authorities immediately eallej on Dr. Dabney. His manner was so peculiar, and he beoaine so violent in hi* denunciations of any interference that it was realised that the surgeon was insane. Dr. Dabney has been performing operations at the rate of forty a month, and from observations which now have bee* made public, it is believed that the surgeon has been insane for more than a year. All this time he lias been using the surgical knife with rare skill, and his former patients are congratulating themselves that they have escaped the consequences of his mania.
