| (Conducted by "Eileen,") SOCIETY NEWS. NEW PLYMOUTH | Mrs. Dodgshun gave another of her 1 enjoyable bridge parties last Monday evening, the prizes being won by Mrs. Mitla (first) and Mra. Fitzherbert (second). Amongst those present were:— Mrs. Dodgshun, pale blue chormeuse, veiled in black ninon; Miss Wood, amethyst colored velvet; Mrs. Paul, very handsome dark reseda green c'harmeuse, with exquisite oriental embroideries; Mrs. Fitzherbert, black silk, pretty black and white shoulder scarf; Mrs. Heard, cream chiffon taffeta, with turquoise ornaments; Mrs. Home, dainty pale blue chiffon taffeta, lightly .trimmed with black; Mrs. Mills, black velvet, relieved with cream lace; Miss Teslar, dove grey silk, corsage relieved with pale pink; Mrs. Curtis, black silk; Mrs. Hirst, biscuit colored voile trimmed with dark green silk; Mrs. Newman, black velvet, trimmed with steel passementerie; Mrs. W, Bayly, black silk. On the following evening Miss Dodgshun gave a euchre party to her friends,, which was thoroughly enjoyed, the prizes t | being won by Miss S. Fitzherbert (first), I and Mr. W. King received tlua-t of the { | gentlemen, while the "booby" prizes , ware bestowed on Miss L. Mills and. Mr. ' B. Simpson. Amongst those present were: Miss Dodgshun, black velvet; Miss K. Leatham, pale blue crystalline; Miss B. Hirst, white serge, grey opera coat, , trimmed with pale pink; Miss D. Brada bury, pale blue velvet; Miss D. Baily, white muslin, trimmed with Valenciennes t lace; Miss L. Mills, white muslin; Miss r S. Fitzherbert, black velvet, trimmed , with rich Spanish lace; Miss D. Saxton, white muslin; Miss H. Cutfield, cream . | silk, pale pink opera coat; Miss L. Greatf batch, pale blue voile, y I Bridge.—Mrs. Bradbury entertained a j ) number of friends at bridge last Thursday evening, and the prizes were won by : Mrs. Mills (first) and MLss Wood (see- ' ond). Amongst those present were: l_ Mrs. Fitzherbert, Masses Humphries, Mrs. G. Kebbell, Miss Brown, Miiss K. Wood, Miss Hamerton, Mrs. H. Russell, , Mrs. Dodgshun, Mrs. Mills. Quite a bevy of fair maidens left by " the Thursday midday train to attend ' 9 the Bachel'ore' Ball at Stratford, anid great was the excitement thereof. Amongst them were: Mcsdames C.
