Government Meteorologist, issued tlr: following summary and "forecast yesterday at 5 p.m.:—■ Summary: Rain has falW in the northern and southernmost districts, and fair to oloudv weather has been experienced elsewhere. Easterly winds, moderate to strong, and squally at times, have prevailed in the north, hut westerlies, increasins from strong to a gale about Foveaux Strait. The barometer has fallen everywhere. Forecast: Present indications are for a falling barometer everywhere, with increasing cloudiness and rain probably generally, with snow on the higher levels in the south. The wind will probably change to northerly and v-esierh in "most parts of the country, ant! in< ivnj-e ffom strong to a gale. The conditions are likelv to prove stormy southward of Kawhia and Castlepoint, *nd the winds veer for strong southerlies about Saturday night or Sunday inorning.
