ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
ATTEMPTED SUICIDE. By Telegraph—Press Association. TaiUape, Wednesday. Last night E. M. Williams, aged 55 yeans, attempted to commit suicide by shooting himself in the head. He was taken to the hospital iu a serious condition. He told the doctor that he had been troubled lately. LOST OVERBOARD. Auckland, Wednesday. During the voyage of the Zealandia from Honolulu, a steerage passenger, Mrs. Ettie Opland, who booked at Honolulu for Auckland, disappeared overboard with her six-year-old son. A boat was launched and diligent search made, but the only trace was the child's cap, which was found floating on the surface. A number of passengers saw the woman and child in the act of going over the side, but could not .say how the affair occurred. The woman'left her husband in Honolulu.
