BRIGHT OUTLOOK. PROBABLE NEW MARKETS FOR WOOL AND MEAT. Masterton, July 27. "The future, outlook for the farmer was never brighter than it is at present," remarked Mr. H. Morrison, president,, at the animal meeting of the Masterton A. & P. Association this afternoon. "The demand is increasing faster thi'.n the supply, unci there should be good times ahead. In the woollen industry, for instance, the demand for woollen goods is increasing in every direction. The working men in New Zealand and at Home, who at one timo woro moleskins, now wear tweed and woollen under-garmenl.s. The people of even China and Japan are becoming educated up to wearing woollen goods. There is going to be a big marl.et in the Far East for wool. The demand niiist go on increasing, and the outlook for wool has never been more hopeful. There appears to be every indication of the Democrats winning the election in America, and it is purl of the policy of that party to pull down tlm tariff of -Id per lb now imposed on imported wools. America is a large eon:i::■:■ >■ : • New Zealand wool, especially Wairarapa. wool. "The same remarks apply to the meat industry. Everywhere we find that the demand is increasing in greater proportion than the supply. At one time the United States exported beef to England. J Nov/ she ha.- k.!,l enough for herself. It will not be hi/,:; before the Argentine will he ev])o>-|:-iig b-ef to tile United States. The den.and for beef and mutton among European nations is greater than the supply. The nations of Europe have always led th ■• world in civilisation, and have always beep meat consumers. The supply is now running out, and they must import i(mi(, in order to maintain ■(he supply ami ! ;:p up the slamina and inlelhr! di' i'. !.'n;i!e. Therefore, we hope (o :• v 1; i,-i, !.i;ig European countries opening il-eir doers to outside meat producers. Tab' n nlt(y"-!bei'. the outlook for NVw Zeale,id i, really 'better and brighter than ; ' ha-; ever been before. With the i-xi|'jdioii of war eventuating, or a serious -hake, we must look to very prosperou -, f.nncs."
