The secretary of the Lawn Tennis Association lias received from the president of the United States' Association a cablegram stating that the prospects of sending a team to play for the Davis Cup are very discouraging. AMERICAN CHAMPIONSHIP. Received 31, 12.45 a.m. New York, July 30. Maurice MeLoughlan retains the Western tennis championship. He defeated T. C. Bunty, B—lo, 6—l, 6—4, 6—4. THE NEW ZEALAND ASSOCIATION.
By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Management Committee of the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association met to-night. Ayres' balls were adopted for the Australasian championship meeting to he held at Hastings in conjunction with the New Zealand championships from December 26 to January 1. The alterations to the rules passed by the Lawn Tennis Association (England) were ordered to be printed and circulated. It wae decided to support the proposed Daylight Saving Bill. The Australian Association notified that an English representative team would visit Australia next summer.
