ENTERTAINMENTS.

EMPIRE FUTURES. "TOM BUTLER- TO-NIGHT. At the Empire Picture- Palace to-night the. usual Wednesday's change of films promises to eclipse al) previous record* (and they are many) held by this popular house. The principal star is a 3000 ft < production, entitled "The Adventures of Tom Butler." This lilm is from the Eclair Studios, from which also carte the famous "Zigomar" series, which are said to be quite put in the shade by this, the company's latest creation. "Tom Butler" is a rattling detective story, full of rapid incident and exciting situations. Cleverly acted, it shows some smart things in the way of disguises, and the onlooker is carried along amid a whirl of sensationalism and excitement which gives little breathing space. Next to this film, which is quita an entertainment in itself, are two of Selig's best, viz., "When Memory Calls," a delightful and ' gripping drama with a fas«inating theme, and "Rlaekbeard." a powerful adoption of the literary masterpiece "The Misanthrope Heart." Lovers of comedy will find much that is new, novel, and amusing in ''The Ventriloquist's Trunk." It is just packed with loads of fun and funny people (including John Bunny). This will also_ apply to "Stage Struck Lime.'' an Edison comedy, and "Deacon Debits'' is a rollicking' 1000 ft. Tannliouser. with a laugh iu every font. On the serious side are 'Tatho'i Animated, fhizcfte" (Home edition), "Harvesting in Sicily," and "Herring Fishing by a Steam Trawler.'' To-morrow and on Friday i'he company will screen ihaL enormously expensive production ••The Midnight Wedding." . ..
