THE FEDERATION OF LABOR. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. Crave dissatisfaction with the tactics of the Federation of has resulted in a gradual depletion in the ranks of members of the Auckland General Laborers' Union. The union's membership only a short while ago represented a total of 800. Now the number is said to be less than 450. and probably does not exceed 400. These figu:es allord a striking example of the strong feeling of antagonism to the Federation that exists amongst a large section of the workers. Palmerston North, Last Night. As the outcome of the recent halfyearly lveeling of the Flax Workers' Association it i> regarded as .practically certain that that body will withdraw fiom the Federation of Labor -.it a special meeting to be neld in the beginning of September, thus following the example of the dairy workers. At Saturday's meeting the (lax workers would not hear the Federation delegates, but did hear Mr. Robertson, M.P.. and rejected the Federation's candidate for the presidency.
