Successive bulletins indicated the approach of death. Convulsion of the whole body •were frequent. Death followed on heart failure. The Crown Prince's succession has been announced. AUSTRALIA'S TRIBUTE. Received 31, 1.15 a.m. Melbourne, July 30. The House resolved to cable to the Japanese nation, expressing Australia's sympathy with the death of the Mikado. A PEACEFUL END. By Telegraph—Pre.sa Association. Wellington. Last Night. Mr. J. A. Tripe, honorary Consul for Japan (acting in the absence of .Mr. Thos. Young), to-day received the following cablegram from the Japanese Minister of Foreign Affairs:—''lt is my most painful duty to announce to you that His Majesty the Emperor, after a short illness, passed away on July 30. at 12.43, at the Imperial Palace, tokio.— Signed. Uchida." The Consul has forwarded his condolences.

NEW ZEALAND'S SYMPATHY. Wellington. Last Night. At the request of the Prime Minister. the Governor has cabled to the Colonial Secretary, asking him to convey to the Japanese Ambassador in London the sympathy of the Government and people of Kew Zealand with the Japanese nation in the death of the Mikado. In consequence of the Mikado's death, Parliament may have to adjourn to-morrow. The position is a little different to the demise of an ordinary sovereign. Japan and Britain being allied nations. Mr. Massey will consult with the other side of the House as to what ought to be done.
