A SHOOTING CASE.. Sydney, July 27. In a shooting case near Dubbo, a wellknown and highly respected farmer named Herbert Thorby is alleged to have shot a man named McArthur. The latter, who was working for Thorby, was discharged, and an altercation' occurred. Thorby was subsequently attacked by McArthur with a tomahawk, whereupon Thorby is alleged to have fired twice, killing McArthur instantly. Thorby later reported himself to the police. PENSION RECIPROCITY. Melbourne, July 27. , It is estimated that old-age pensions under the reciprocity arrangements with New Zealand would cost Australia £20,000 annually. Not more than a j thousand persons would be affected. Mr. Fisher is favorable to the scheme, and 1 is hopeful that it will lead to closer rellations in other matters.
