PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION.
ROOSEVELT'S PROGRESS. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 28, 5.5 p.m. New ifork, July 27. Mr. Roosevelt's Third Party ha* been formally launched in Michigan and New Jersey, but there are many difficulties in the other States, which will not be seriously tackled until the Roosevelt Convention meet. Not the least of the problems is the status of the Rooseveltere chosen for the pre-Convention primaries. As Republicans they ought strictly to vote for Taft, but should Roosevelt be bereft of their support it is quite possible that the courts may be called upon to solve the difficulty. Everything points against Roosevelt making as strong a bid as did the Republican nomination. Both Republicans and Democrats are attacking Roosevelt, and trying by vague generalisations and misrepresentations to mobilise class discontent.
