THE COPYRIGHT. By Cable—Press Association'—Copyright. Melbourne, July 27. The Copyright Bill, introduced into the Senate, repeals existing legislation, and makes the British Act of 1908 applkable to Australia. It further provides that copies made outside Australia o e . work, which if made in Australia vonld infringe the copyright, shall, if the owner desires, be treated as prohibited imports. The Bill also provides for reciprocal copyright with the other Dominions which are not' adopting the British Act. The penalties are increased from £2 to £SO for each copy of the work infringed. The term books includes every part of a book, pamphlet, sheet of letterpress, plan or chart.
