TURKISH CRISIS.
MODERN CONSTITUTION UNSUITABLE. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright Received 28, 5.5 p.m. London, July 27. The Times, describing the remarkable •ituation in Turkey, contrasts the position with the Young Turks' successes in •908. To-day, not only Bulgarians, Greeks and Christians, but the Albanians are bitterly hostile to the organisers of the 1906 revolution, or rather the coterie ■which issued therefrom. The army has also turned against them, and the days of the all-powerful caucus are apparently numbered. Broadly speaking, the ■ituation is due to Turkey being unripe for the application of constitutional principles, and the discovery that the realisation of the programme will be a complete reversal of the position, placing the Turk at the mercy of his more numerous and progressive Christian fellow-countrymen.
