THE WAIHI STRIKE. By Telegraph—Prea» Aasosiatioa. ' Auckland, Friday. Mr. Harles Giles has represented to the Labor Department the difficulty of proceeding to Wa-ihi in consequence of the large number of labor disputes for which dates have been fixed and' witnesses summoned. He suggested the appointment of a deputy to perform the regular duties. This, he is informed, is impossible. Messrs. Triggs and Hally will probably proceed to Waihi alone. Wellington, Last Night. Mr. M. Laracy, of the Federation of Labor, told a New Zealand Times representative to-night that the federation is taking no part in the conciliation proceedings that appear to be pending at Waihi in connection with the miners' strike. He presume* that the employers intend to capitulate. Mr. Laracy says that the federation is quite prepared to carry on the strike. Money is coming in plentifully from Australia and various parts of New Zealand, and there will be no difficulty in carrying on for two months at least.
