The Meteorological Department iS6ued ■the following weather summary and forecast at 5 p.m.:—Summary: Stormy ■weather continued about Cook strait, but moderated somewhat to-day. Raw, unsettled* and showery weather prevailed, especially on the East £oast. Strong easterly winds have predominated, and the anti-cydone extends into the high latitudes for 30-31 has been reported on Wednesday at Macquarie Island, when 30-70 was read at Oamaru, and (he gradient has been, and is ..still, very -steep to iaenorth-westward. Forecast: Present indications are for easterly and south-, easterly winds, probably increasing again from strong to gale, and generally unsettled, cloudy weather, with rain and more snow shortly on the higher levels and in the south. The barometer is due to fall everywhere, particularly in the north.
