THE WEATHER
SUMMARY AND FORECAST. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington. Last Night. The Meteorological Department issued the following weather summary and forecast at 5 p.m.: —Summary. The barometer has been very high in the south, and is above normal, but relatively lower in the north. Showery "weather has been experienced on all the eastern coast, with hail squalls in parts and snow on some of the higher levels. Strong southerly winds have predominated. Forecast: Present indications are for strong easterly winds, with cold, ahowery and changeable weather, especially on the east coast. The barometer ■will probably rise for a short time in -the north, but fall everywhere after from 20 to 24 hours for a westerly low-pres-sure area, which is due to pass in the south at the end of the week.
