. CLOSER SETTLEMENT. By Association. Napier, Monday.' The Waiha.u and Ngaroto estates are under offer to the Government, and the Land Purchase Board will pay a visit of inspection on Wednesday. NAPIER MUSICAL FESTIVAL. Napier, Monday. Entries for the annual musical fest> val represent nearly 1300 contestants, constituting a record in the history of the society. Messrs. Baeyertz ans Scherek will act as judges. MORE LAND FOR SETTLEMENT. Wellington, Yesterday. The Hon. W. F. Massey (Minister foij Lands) informed a reporter yesterday that the Government had purchased the ,Tunanui Estate in llawke's Bay fori closer settlement. The property has an area of two thousand acres anil adjoins the larger Sherenden Estate, which was purchased last week. The same roading scheme will apply to both estates, and. they were obtained at the same price per acre. In announcing the acquisition of the Sherenden Estate, Mr. Massey stated that 80 per cent, of the land was ploughable. In the case of Tunanui he considers that the proportion of ploughable land is somewhat greater.
