HOME RULE.
MR. ASQUITII SPEAKS OUT. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. London, July 21. In the course of his speech, Mr. Asquit'h said that when the country had twice within twelve months declared in favor of the Parliament Bill, it was with the knowledge and intention that it should be used to carry self-govern-ment for Ireland, tin? establishment of religious equality in Wales, and the simplification of the'franehise. Never had leader enjoyed to a greater degree than himself the loyal and affectionate co-operation of colleagues and the constant and strenuous support of his followers. There had been a combination of forces and a mutual understanding leading to the complete ban- ■ ishment of rivalries, jealousies and rancour from their ranks as a party. There had ->! so been a subordination on the part of individuals of their own ambition, even of their own particular fancies, in pursuit of the common purposes. It was thus great causes were borne to victory.
