That increased berthage is required at the breakwater was never more apparent than it is to-day, when a very busy day ia in store for the officials. The Kaituna is still discharging 'her cargo of Newcastle coal; the Echo toaa a quantity of Puponga' coal to put out; the Earawa is expected from Onehunga ■early this morning; the Corinna is bringing a cargo of slag from Wellington; and there is a possibility of the Putiki being in port. Lying outside is the barque Manurewa, for which there is no 'berth available until one of the other vessels departs. The conditions at present obtaining, however, are better than they were a year ago. A fine berth has been provided inshore, where the Kaituna now lies so snugly. At low water this vessel looks to be in a precarious position, but she has plenty of water under her, and the weather cannot affect her there. Every berth will be. occupied, and the barque and the dredges will lie off the wharf, so the port to-day will present a very animated appearance.
THE MOA. The -Moa was to have sailed from Westport for New Plymouth last night, but the departure of the vessel has been delayed. ' THE KAITUNA. The Kaituna continued the discharging of her coal yesterday and put out a large quantity. Operations .will be continued to-day. ' THE ECHO. The Echo discharged a portion of her cargo yesterday and will probably complete to-day. BARQUE MANUREWA. The barque Manurewa arrived off the breakwater early yesterday afternoon 'with a cargo of timber for the Railway Department. She will come alongside as soon as a berth is available. -' THE CORINNA. ■The Corinna is due here this morning from Wellington with 450 .tons of cargo. The vessel proceeds to Timaru and Dunedin after discharging.
TE AN MI'S TRIP ABANDONED. Owing to delay-in the south and the; small quantity of cargo offering, the Te Anau's proposed trip to New Plymouth has been abandoned. • OVERSEA SHIPPING.
