( The Meteorological Department has issued the following weather summary j and forecast: .Summary: The'storm area, which has now passed to the east- , ward, has not been remarkable for a low glass or the steepness of its gradi- ] ents. but for its duration and the in- j tensity and capriciousness of the weather experienced. Conditions are still gloomy and cold. With decreasing southerly winds. The. barometer has risen, especially in the north. Forecast: Present indications are for fair to cloudy weather, with showers in parts, breeze.-? generally moderate and variable, decreasing southerlies, probably giving way shortly to freshening, easterly and northerly breezes. The barometer will probably rise slowly in the north and fall in the , south after from 24 to 36 hours.
