SUMMARY AND FORECAST. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Meteorological Department published the following summary and forecast at 5 p.m.:—Summary. The cyclonic system which has caused much rain and wind during the past four days' is now departing to the eastward of East Cape. Westerly gales have been reported in the northern districts, and southerlies in and southward of Cook Strait. Forecast. —Present indications are for southerly winds, strong to a gale, with a tendency to moderate shortly, excep| about East Cape and possibly in Cook Strait. Cold and showery weather is probable generally. The barometer is still unsteady, especially in the southernmost districts, but will probably rise everywhere soon.
