SOUTH AFRICA v. AUSTRALIA. j By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. London, July 10. The weather was brilliant, hot, and breezy, and the wicket good. Faulkner ( and Nourse were the bowlers. Runs'j came freely, Bardsley made 51 in 100 I minutes and Kelleway 51 in 135 min- :1 utes. Several changes were made, but j' the batsmen were untroubled, and 89 , were added in an hour The fielding was lifeless. Bardsley reached 101 after 103 I minutes. His play was faultless, and his J runs were chiefly due to brilliant driv- , ing. Kelleway reached 101 after 220 minutes. Kelleway was out leg-before ' to Faulkner. He showed splendid defence, hitting seven fours.—Three for 25(5. It, was a record for a third-wicket; partnership in a test match. Bardsley j was badly missed at 131 by White oil ( Faulkner at third man. Gregory lost his wicket in hitting across at Llewellyn. —Four for 277. Bardsley reached 150 after 255 minutes. He was troubled by Llewellyn and put his leg in front. He . batted for 240 minutes and showed mas- | terly all-round play. He hit a six and fifteen fours.—Five for 316. Mayne was stumped off Pegler. Matthews sent a skier and was brilliantly caught by ',
Faulkner, running from slip.—Seven for 375. Hazlitt lost his middle stump to a swerver.—Eight for 370. Whitty, before scoring, lost Minnctt. The latter had played a vigorous innings of 55 minutes. —Nino for 381. The innings lasted 340 minutes. During Pegler's last spell he had taken four wickets for 16 runs. For the South Africans Tancred and Strieker faced Hazlitt and Whitty. Tancred, in Hstzlitt's fifth over, was brilliantly caught at long-off by Bardsley running.—One for 28. White came in next. Matthews replaced Whitty at 47 and got White in 'his second over.—Two for 54. Llewellyn filled the vacancy. Hazlitt, whose length was varying and pace difficult, then bowled Strieker.— Three for 02. Nourse came in next and a better stand was made. Whitty relieved Matthews at 74 and Kelleway relieved Hazlitt at 85. The century appeared in 75 minutes. Nourse was uncomfortable, and after scoring 10 was out leg-before. He had batted for 40 minutes. Llewellyn had made 35.—Four for 102. Faulkner filled the vacancy. Another fair partnership resulted. Macartney relieved Whitty at 126 and got Llewellyn by a break-back. The batsman had given a splendid and free display, and his score included nine fours. He was in 75 minutes, —Five for 134. Matthews replaced Kelleway, and Taylor, before scoring, lost Faulkner, who was easily caught by Matthews off his own bowling.—Six for 130. Mitchell was then out to a fast yorker from Matthews.—Seven for 142. Schwarz was easily taken at mid-off by Macartney Eight for 146. The attendance was now 10,000.

London, July 16. The Imperial Cricket Conference has been deferred until the necessitv arises for consideration of the method of arriving at the final result of the triangular tests. A proposal was submitted that England should visit Africa in 1914-15, England visit Australia in 1915-16, Australia visit England in 1916, Africa visit England in 1917. The scheme was not final, as some delegates were not sufficiently empowered.
