LONDON MARKETS,

By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. London, July 17.

At the wool sales there was spirited competition, and all sections are very firm.

Silver, 27% d. Dalgety Company's shares, £9B 15s.

DAIRY PRODUCE REPORT

Messrs E. Griffiths and Co. are in receipt of the following market report from their London principals, Messrs Mills and Sparrow, dated June 7,1.012:

The strike now seems likely to come to an end. Dining the week quite a number of men -have gone back to work, and others have, been brought from different parts of the country to help break the strike, so that the discharging of tlie v;-"' : ! •amcr.s has been proceeded \v'uii. tint the cargoes have to be brought from the docks by rail and vans, as none of the lightermen are at work.

Danish: The quotation has been raised three kroner. This is really an inclusion of the overprice, which has been pnid to some dairies making a special quantity.

Siberian: This week's boat has been unloaded without any trouble, and the butters have met with a fair demand. A large increase in arrivals is expected next week.

French: Xiee rains have been experienced, and these have conu just in time, so that the production is keeping up. and the butter meets with a fair demand.

Irish: Trade has been good, and although there is a good make, we think there is sufficient consumptive demand to clear the supplies as they come along.

Australian: The s.s. Demosthenes commenced discharging about the middle of the week, but has not quite completed yet. while n start is expected to be made on the s.s. Argyllshire to-day, and the s.s. Osterley. we believe, is to be unloaded next week. The demand has been quiet, as buyers have mostly fdled their requirements with Continental and Irish butters, when they found the Australian was not obtainable; but the market is steady, and we have no doubt that all these goods will gradually sell.

Xow Zealand: The s.s. Tuvakina's butter is coming to hand very slowly, and there is a good enquiry, which is chiefly for storing purposes. The s.s. Athenic is in dock, but so far nothing lias come to hand.

Cheese.—The s.s. Tuvakina's cheese is now all discharged, and as the supply on the market has ineveased, values have receded somewhat, but with the reported shortage of the Canadian make, we see no reason why high rates should not continue.
