He wished to withdraw the application for the transfer. The Board resolved that under the exceptional circumstances .tfie explanation be accepted as satisfactory, and that the section be allowed to remain in Mr. Taylor's own name. Public Trustee to F. W. IT. de Launay,- but the Board refused permission, on the grounds of aggregation of area.
EXTENSION OF TIME. One month's extension of time in which to register transfers were granted as follows:—W. B. Reid to H. Blair, section 4, block 7, Malioe; Coburn and Banfield to R. P. Coburn, section 8, block 5, Aria; C. E. H. Allen to P. Collyer, section 30, block 2, Ngatimaru; R. H. Allen to P. Collyer, section 1, block 1, Ngatimaru; A. X. Mills to J. 'F. Ritchie, sections 11 and 30, block 0, Xgatimaru. A similar concession was granted in the case of the sub-lease from W. R. and M. Bonner to E. M. Gatton, section 0, block Ifi, Xgatimaru. IMPROVED FARM SETTLEMENTS, Leases and licenses (in some cases subject to the settlement of accounts for fencing) were issued to the following occupiers of land under the Improved Farm Settlement Act:—W. M. Healey, section 19, block 2, Ohura; F. Kerrisk, section 18, block 4, Totoro; J. Kannaird, junr., section 32, block 1, Tangitu; W.Chaytor, section 5, block 14, Ohura; and B. McManus, section 4, block 12, Mapara. CROWN RANGERS' REPORTS.
Crown Lands Ranger E. Tolme reported on resuming possession on sec. 5, 1)1 k 2, Heao, and it was resolved that the report be adopted, and that the section be offered under Part 3, Land Act, Ifoß. In regard to his report on the 'balance of Taraunui, Aria, it was resolved to offer the land for settlement and to make provision for road access to native land adjoining. Arising out of Hanger 11. T. Twiss's report, the Board decided: (1) That all the sections in the town of Waitara under consideration, with the exception of blk. 99, be offered for sale bv public auction for cash; (2) that sec." 2, Waitara West subdivision,, be offered for lease for a term of ten years, with the proviso that in event of buildings being erected the tenant should be allowed to remove them; (3) that H. F. Cane's interest in sec. 7, block 13, Upper Waitara, be declared forfeited for non-improve-ment; (4) that sec. 255, Huirangi, be offered for public auction for cash after a railway crossing has been put in. Assistant Ranger 15. A. Meredith reported on the application of A. S. Warren for part of sec. 1, blk. 3, Mapara, and on the non-residence of J. Watson on sec. 6, blk. 1, Tangitu.
Consideration of the first matter was deferred, pending further report, and Watson's interest was declared forfeited. ACCRUED THIRDS.
The following proposals by local bodies for the expenditure of accrued thirds were approved, subject to the ranger's report: —Waircja Road Board, £3O (is sd; Pa tea County Council, £72 IBs Sd; Clifton County Council, £BO2 lus Wd ; Ilawcra County Council, £212 lus lOd; Egmont County Council, ;E2 12a 4(1; Oka to Road Board. £2B 0s 7(1; Stratford County Council, £33!) Is lOd. Considerable discussion arose as to the best means of apprising the settlers of tho works proposed to be undertaken by local bodies, in order that their interests might be conserved in the expenditure of the thirds accrued, but no practical solution of the difficulty was arrived at.
G EXERAL.
The Commissioner submitted a schedule of selectors two or more payments in arrears, consideration of which was deferred.
Til answer to his application for a lease of sec. 3, blk. 4. Totoro, it was decided to inform J. V. Mortensen that the Board would not deal with the land at present. * (!. R. 'Mossman's application to exchange part of sec. 8, blk. 15, Aria, for part sec. 20, blk. 15, was deferred for the ranger's report.
The Board resolved that it could not entertain G. Smith's application to exchange 00 acres in the Waikawau block for part of the Aria Township Reserve.
Messrs. Standish and Standish made application oil behalf of E. Marfell to purchase the right of way between the closed part of the Omata road and another closed road. It was decided to allow Mr. Marfell to
purchase the land, subject to valuation I in terms of sec, 131 of the Land Act, I 1308. I
T. Aston applied to acquire part of the Tangitu Township Reserve fronting his section, and it was resolved that the land be added to his holding at a capital value of £4 an acre.
In reference to W. H. Jury's application for a temporary lease of sec. 77, blk. 4, Paritutu, it was decided to inform the applicant "that the Board cannot see its way to take the land from one person and give it to another." i Upon receipt of his written protest, it was decided to cancel notice of termination of E. Erlandson'B tenancy of tho lease of sees. 49 and 51, blk. 4, Faritutu. The Whangamomona Defence Rifle Club applied for a lease of sec. 22, blk. 1, Mahoe, as a rifle range for joint use of Territorials and the Rifle Club. —Deferred for ranger's report. The meeting was adjourned until Thursday morning, to-day being' observed as a holiday in honor of Arbor Day.
