SUMMARY AND FORECAST. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Meteorological Department published the following summary and forecast at 5 p.m.:—Summary—The weather improved in most parts of the Dominion on Saturday and Sunday, but a small westerly area of low pressure has passed in the south, while a cyclonic system ha 3 developed to-day in the north, with increasing easterly, and southerly winds. Forecast.—Present indications are for easterly to south-easterly winds, strong 4o gale, with heavy rain and rivers rising, especially on the east coast, and snow on the higher levels, with colder -weather following. The barometer will probably fall further in the north, but continue to rise unsteadily in the south.
