BURGLAR PLEADS GUILTY. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wanganui, Thursday. At the Magistrate's Court this morning, C. E. Hansen pleaded guilty to a burglary at St. John's Hill on June 29, and was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. A RAILWAY APPEAL. Wanganui, Thursday. In connection with the decision of the Railway Appeal Board at Whangarei, in the appeal of T. J. Riordan, clerk, against dismissal from the service, the finding telegraphed gave the impression that Riordan had been reinstated for six months on trial without pay, but it transpires that the forfeiture of pay was only during the period of his suspension pending the hearing nf the charges against him, and that his pay begins on the resumption of duty on trial. The case is one in which railway officers throughout the Dominion are interested. A SHOOTING CASE. Wairoa, Thursday. Alfred Alexander Berry, charged with having fired a rifle at Miss Delia Martin on Sunday, was committed for trial. Accused pleaded not guilty, expressed regret for the occurrence, and said he never meant to kill or injure her. Had |he desired to do ?o she was in his power. Bail was refused.
