RAILWAY APPEAL BOARD.
AN OFFICIAL REDUCED. By Telegraph—Press Association.' Wellington, > Last Night. The Railway Appeal Board to-night considered the case of Thomas Henry Stubbs, relieving officer for the Auckland district, who appealed against his dismissal. Appellant was acting master at 'Taupiri on May 8, and the points were left open, with the result that the engine and three waggons were derailed. Dr. McArthur, S.M. (president of the board) considered that Stubbs was responsible as officer-in-cliarge of the station, but was not satisfied that the punishment was commensurate with the offence. The board considered that the case would be met by reducing appellant one grade (from grade eight to grade nine). They recognised that he was a capable officer.
