SUMMARY AND FORECAST. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington. Last Night. The Meteorological Department published the following weather summary and forecast at 5 p.m.: Summary: Heavy rain with south-easterly winds, strong to gale, have been experienced on the east coast of the South Island, southwards of Banks Peninsula. Snow has also been reported on the higher levels. Rain has fallen in most parts of the Dominion, and cloudy and unsettled weather lias prevailed. The barometer is lowest about Cook Strait, and the winds have decreased to-day. Forecast: Present indicatiuns are for hazy, unsettled and cloudy weather, with rain in most parts of the country, especially on the east coast of the South Island. A temporary rise in the barometer is probable everywhere, with southerly winds predominating for a short time.
