TRACKED DOWN.

| AN AUCKLAND BURGLARY. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, July !). Practically the first of the series of burglaries with which Auckland has this year been visited was that committed in Newton on January 4, when the tailor's shop of William Henry Flyger, in Karaliaghape road, was entered, and four suits of clothes and a couple of pairs of trousers taken. Enquiry was started on the subject immediately, but it was not until yesterday that the burglar was tracked down in the person of Robert John Da vies, a married man, 27 years of age. Davies is a' tailor by trade, and had worked for Mr. Flyger, though not employed by him at the time of the burglary. He consequently knew the run' of the premises, and by breaking a pane; of glass at the rear window was able to gain entrance and make away with a new suit for nearly every day in the week. When charged* at the Police Court this morning with the offence, Davies entered a plea of guilty, and was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. A sidelight was thrown on his domestic life'a little later in the proceedings, when he was charged on the information of his wife with having failed to adequately provide for the maintenance of 'his girl child. The wife did not come forward to press the charge, and, in view of accused's inability under present circumstances to do anything for his family, the case was struck out.
