TERRITORIALS FIXED. Wairoa, Wednesday. Two youths were fined at the Police Court for failing to render personal service under the Defence Act. "INCREASING- BARBARITY." Cliristcliurcli, Wednesday. The National Peace Council, protesting against the proposed imprisonment of defence defaulters in barracks, carried a resolution referring to tlie "increasing barbarity necessitated in enforcing compulsory service."
