"The Lords and members of the House of Commons were aboard the Armadale Castle, and the pressmen on another ship. Torpedoes were discharged, and hydroplane flight and submarine attacks made. A MAGNIFICENT SPECTACLE. Received 10, 11 p.m. London, July 10. Mr. Asquith and Mr. Churchill, aboard the Admiralty yacht Enchantress, with a number of Parliamentarians boarded the newest battleships and cruisers at Spithead. Enormous crowds gathered at vantage points. There were thirty thousand spectators afloat. Great interest was displayed in the airmen's exploits. The aeroplanists, scouting with two hydro-aeroplanists, discovered and reported wirelessly the presence of submarines. During the manoeuvres the periscope of D 4, wherein the King voyaged under water at Weymouth, was considerably bent by colliding with a dinghy. The departure of the fleet was a stately procession seawards, and was the most memorable spectacle of the day.
