SPLITTING TIIK PROGRESSIVE ,FORCES. Br Cable—Prtss Association—Copyright. - FORCES. Received 10. 11 p.m. London. July 10. Fifteen Liberal Commoners, fearing the result of splitting the progressive forces, urged the Master of Elibank to recommend the Hanlev Liberals to stand aside and support the Laborite interests and the Government's important legislative programme. The Master of Elibank refused, saying that ho was merely confirming the free decision of the Liberal organisation to contest a seat whose representative from lflOG to 1910 had been accepted as Liberal Whip.
