S'J.MiIARY AND FORECAST. ! By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Meteorological Department published the following summary and forecast at 5 p.m.:—Summary—A cyclonic storto, with the lowest pressure about Cook Strait, now rules. High northerly and westerly winds have been experienced in the north, and southerly and easterly winds in the south. The weather has 'been unsettled and gloomy, with heavy rain in parts. The barometer his risen in the south and fallen in the north. Forecast—Present indications are for heavy rain in most parts of the country, especially over the North Island, and on the east coast of the South Island, with much snow on the higher levels and colder weather following. High westerly winds veering to southerly northward of Kawhia and Castlepoint, and south-easterlies strong 4o gale elsewhere. The barometer will probably rise everywhere soon.
