DISTRICT NEWS.
MIDHIRST. (Prom Own Correspondent.) ' Last Friday night, at the Oddfellows' Hall, Mrs-. Mail and Miss Mail entertained a number of their friends at a social. In spite of the terrible weather a good few turned up. The -evening was passed away in dancing, games and card-, playing, and all enjoyed themselves to the full. The company broke up with tlve. singing of "Auld Lang Syne", in the wee sifia' 'oors. Mr. Alex. Brown has been seriously ill for two or three weeks, but his many friends will be pleased to learn.that he is on the road to recovery. Mr. George Smith and her daughter are on a visit to Auckland.
