Oiving judgment in the case Cock'and jChilds v. the Kin-jr Cold Mining ComIpany, his Honor Mr. Justice 'Cooper granted an application to remove the names from the list of contrilmtarles, 'and allowed cost,-:, to applicants. The company intends to appeal. A SERIOUS CHARGE. Palmerston N., Monday. A Maori, reputed to be a tohuiiga, named King Awafa Tuparoa, aged about 52 years, was charged at the Magistrates Court tin's morning'with committing rape on a sixteen-year-old native gir.l._ Accused was arrested at Masterton in the public hospital, where lie was undergoing pa.k-eha treatment for burns. The treatment was afterwards continued in gaol. As the girl is sull'ering from peritonitis, the ease was adjourned for a week. J!"-' -f £2OO was allowed.
