A BANK DESTROYED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Palmerston N., Saturday. Foxton was visited by another lire early this morning, when the Bank of New Zealand, a two-storeyed building, including the manager's residence, was completely destroyed. The fire was discovered at 2.30, and made rapid progress. little or nothing was saved by the manager, Mr. Mitchell, and his wife, who only managed to secure a few personal effects. The Anglican Church near by was thought to be in danger, hut the wind was favorable and carried the flames across the wide street in the direction of an empty space made by the recent fire. On the other side of the destroyed building was a brick, shop, occupied by a Chinese fruiterer, and this stopped the fire from spreading. FIRE AT HASTINGS. Hastings, Saturday. , A fivc-romed cottage, owned and occupied hy W. H. Poole, was destroyed tiy fire at an early hour this morning. Nothing was saved.
