POLITICAL NOTES.

MR. MILLAR'S ATTITUDE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Friday. The Hon. Mr. Millar, interviewed, said his eyesight had much improved, and he was proceeding to Wellington only to record his vote on the no-confidence motion and then to return to Rotorua. Pressed for a statement of his intentions', he indicated that if it were found that he had voted against the Government, it would not follow that he would support Mr. Massey, but he would not be averse to a coalition. THE NO-CONFIDENCE DEBATE. Wellington, Last Night, Early this morning it was believed that there was a probability of the division on the No-confidence motion being taken to-night, but at the time of writing (11 p.m.) the outlook is not hopeful. The Hon. J. A. Millar arrived to-day. but he did not put in an appearance in the House. He will simply record his vote against the Mackenzie Ministry and return to Rotorua. The Opposition are still maintaining an attitude, of absolute silence, and are ready for the vote to be taken at any time. On the other hand the Government is compelled to adopt all sorts of devices to stave off the fatal hour. Mr. Xgata will be here on Monday night, hut Mr, Herries will return on Wednesday, so a delay really will effect little if any •liffcrence at all in the ultimate result. The absolute confidence of the Opposition is the best indjeation of how the vote '.ill go. If the division were taken to'ihriit the result would surprise 'sonic people, but the Ministry appears to be quite aware that its fate is sealed.
