The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., Wellington, have received the following cablegram from their London house under date, July 2:—London Wool Sales.—There was a full attendance at the opening of the sales to-day, competition by Home, Continental and American buyers being spirited. As compared with last sales' closing rates are higher by about 5 per cent, to 7y 2 per cent, for fine and medium crossbred; 'higher by about 5 per cent, for merino, and about par to 5 per cent, higher for coarse crossbred. The opening catalogues were fairly representative. Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Wellington, have received the following cablegram from their London office, dated July 2:—The wool sale* opened with a large attendance of buyers anct competition was animated. The selection is nearly all crossbreds, and American buyers are .buying fine and mediumgreasy crossbred wools. There is an advance all round, fine and medium cross- < breds showing 5 to 7Vz per cent., and coarse crossbreds and merino wools par to 5 per cent.
