LEGAL POSITION OF UNIONS. By Cables—Prasa Association—Copyright. London, July 3. Luby, a miner, has compelled the Warwickshire Miners' Association to refrain from expelling him. The association claimed that Luby's action was maintainable owing to the Act of George 111. ranking trade unions as unlawful, seditious and immoral combinations. Mr. Justice Neville ruled that the Act was not intended to apply to innocuous and useful societies. AN AMERICAN STRIKE. Received 4, 11.45 p.m. New York, July 4. A thousand miners struck at Wilksbarre because the employees of the Wyoming Valley coal mines refused to join the unions.
