CANADA'S DEFENCE SCHEME

A PROMISE OF DREADNOUGHTS. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 4, 10.30 p.m. London. July 4. Mr. Borden and four other members of the Canadian Cabinet have arrived, making seven now in England. The newspapers publish eulogistic articles on Canada's defence proposals. The Times' Toronto correspondent states that it is understood that the Government will offer two or three Dreadnoughts, costing twenty or thirty million dollars, to be constructed for ! Britain, in partial discharge of Canada's immediate duty. Mr. Borden's Government will be as zealous as Sir Wilfrid Laurier's was for the autonomy of the Dominion.
