TERRIBLE TORNADO
IX THE TRACK OF THE STORM. MARVELLOUS ESCAPES. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Regina. July 2. A swath two blocks wide and two miles long was cut through the city by the violence of the storm. All buildings within the storm area were levelled to the ground. Some marvellous escapes are recorded. Girls in the telephone exchange scrambled over the ruins of the building and escaped unscathed to the street. A fifteen ton switchboard fell beside them as they reached the street. A large grain elevator was carried fifty feet from its accustomed spot. A clergyman in one church ran out as the end of the building fell about his ears. The damage is definitely stated at a million sterling.
