RACING PERMITS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Tuesday. The Auckland Ministers' Association passed a resolution protesting against any increase in the number of permits issued to racing clubs, and urging that any action taken in respect of the laws controlling gambling should be in the direction of a further reduction of the number of licensee issued.
A Sydney cablegram reports that the New Zealand horse Canteen, by Castor— Vivandiere, a winner of the New Zealand Cup, while doing stud duty at King Island, broke a stifle and was shot.
