AUSTRALIA v. YORKSHIRE. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. London, July 1. The weather was dull, but the wicket excellent, for the match Australia v. Yorkshire. Bates and Bayes were omitted from the Yorkshire team. Gregory won the toss, and Jennings and Kelleway faced Hirst and Booth. Both were playing well when the partnership was interrupted by Jennings being run out. Macartney and Kelleway made a splendid stand, adding 110. Fifty appeared in 55 minutes. There were frequent changes of bowling, but Kelleway was playing most carefully. He reached double figures in 55 minutes, and was barracked somewhat. He gave a chance at 7. Macartney was making runs all round, and sent up his 50 in 70 minutes, hoisting the century in 105 minutes by the same stroke. The bowling was lacking in sting. At lunch there was one witket down for 134. On resuming in sunshine, Hirst and Booth were bowling. Kelleway, in the second over, was taken in the slips after 125 minutes' play. Macartney and Bardsley added 39. Macartney was

showing superb cutting and driving, and playing without a chance. He hit twelve fours during his 115 minutes at the wickets. Bardsley and Gregory were careful. The former gave a c'hanco at 27 and was taken brilliantly low righthanded at short leg. The second century was hoisted in 180 minutes. Minnett after a chance at 25, was taken brilliantly left-handed high at cover-point. He played a sound innings, hitting six fours Yorkshire opened their innings witl Rhodes and Wilson, the bowling beinf entrusted to Matthews and Whitty Rhodes played Whitty on to his wickei after scoring 14.
