A SHOOTING ACCIDENT. By Telegraph—Press Association. Carterton, Monday. A shooting accident took place on the Wairarapa Lake yesterday. A young man named Tyrell Quinn was getting out of a boat, holding a gun by the barrel, when it exploded and discharged its contents in his right arm, which was very seriously injured.

A SEAMAN DROWNED. Auckland, Yesterday. Samuel Wadsworth, an able seaman on the scow Era, was sweeping the decks as the vessel was entering port on Saturday night, when the fore boom jibbed in a sudden squall, and a rope caught Wadsworth and swept him into the sea, which was running high. A boat was lowered and searched for an hour, but found no trace of the man.

ACCIDENT ON KENT ROAD. Mr. H. H. Olsen, of Egmont Village, met with a rather serious accident yesterday afternoon. He was riding down the Kent road, when his horse shied and fell, precipitating him with such violence to the ground as to render him unconscious. About an hour later his brother fortunately passed by, and finding him just recovering conveyed him to his home at Egmont Village.
