On the ?ame day in my Douglas yards I had a fair lot of cattle and about 50fl sheep yarded. Bidding throughout was good, everything being cleared, with -the exception of two small lines of 20-months in calf heifers. A private dairy herd nn account of Mr. Arthur Walter met with very good competition from £5 2s Od to £lO 10s. and on account of the same vendor cows in iriilk realised from £4 15s to £5; weaner heifers. £1 12s; sprine cart, £5 10s. On the same day I 'had my Stony River yards well filled with all classes of stock, buyers being present in good numbers, and a very successful safe resulted. On Thursday at Mangatoki I held a sale of Mr. G. Parke's dairy stock and farm sundries. Notwithstanding the wretched day, I had a very large attendance of buyers from all parts of the district. The cows were a very nice Shorthorn-Jersey line in fine condition, showing well forward, and met with good competition, averaging just £lO for the line. The horses, implements, gigs and sundries eold very readily. Prices obtained were: Best quality cows, £9 10s to £l4 10s; good, 1 £7 to £9; three-quarter or backward, £4 5s to £8; Jersey-Holstein grade heifers, in calf, £0 to £7 15s; Bulls, £2 to £8; draught draught in foal. £10; breeding sows, -C2 15s to £4 15s; gigs, £lB to £l9 ss; hacks, £0 to £7 ss; berberry plants, 30s per 1000; Cambridge roller, £ls 10s; d.f plough, £11; s.f. plough, £5 ss: McCormack mower, £lO 10s; drill, £22; dray, £l6 15s.
