FIRES.
NURSES BURNT OUJ. By Talegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Saturday. By a fire at midnight in the nurses' quarters in the isolation wards of the Auckland Hospital, apart from the main building, practically half the building was destroyed. The fire was discovered by the doctors in the main hospital, who aroused the two nurses and lady dispenser and got them out safety, leaving their clothing. The fire originated in the bathroom. The building, one of eight rooms, was valued at £SOO and insured in the National Office. The contents of the building were also insured. There was no alarm among the hospital patients, and those able to leave their beds watched the conflagration from the windows.
