PARAGRAPH PHILOSOPHY.
Here are a few maxims from an American |iii|H'r: It doesn't |)ay to become sadder without becoming wiser. Tlio man who pays cash is really a credit to the community. There's one nice thing about eggs. They never get too fresh. The man who depends on luck to push him uphill won't get very far. Most of us would be rich if we could only profit by our mistakes. It is just as easy to live beyond your reputation as beyond your income. Some people put off till to-morrow the ■ things they should have done last week. Every man is inclined to hug a delusion, especially if it wears petticoats. Don't place too much dependence on a fat pocket-book. Tt may be filled with unreceipted bills. Virtue is its own reward. The spring lamb dies young, but the black sheep, lives to a ripe old age. Once get into dirty water and you will never be washed clean again as long as you live. What you do not wish done to yourself do not to others. If a man does not meet with one who is his "better or his equal, let him firmly keep to his solitary way.
